Fat Tuesday: BACON

I thought it would be fun to have a reoccurring thematic post. I got the idea from my friend Jane over at http://www.theheritagecook.com If you don’t know her, you should make a point to do so. She is fantastic and unlike me, is an actual cook/chef/recipe developer extraordinaire. Seriously, go there. Jane does “Chocolate Monday”. It never disappoints and is often gluten-free.

Here at The Swearing Mom, I’ve decided on Fat Tuesday! No, it’s not all things Mardi Gras… It’s all things deliciously unhealthy. What better way to kick off than with BACON?!?! I’m going to start with a three part series that will help you put together the most delectable bacon bar in the history of, well… ever! This is a savory/sweet spin on classic chip n’ dip, but with bacon! It’s so simple that there is zero reason not to include it. Also… Because BUTTER!

Bacon is the go to addition these days. It compliments, well, everything! I’ve decided to take a sweet approach to this savory slab of salty cured goodness and help you put together a dessert bacon bar. There will be three components to this bacon bar. I am going to include my two bacony “go to’s” and a new twist on an old favorite.

First and simplest, is Crisp Bacon with Maple-butter dip

INGREDIENTS:

1 pound thick cut bacon cut in half and cooked crisp

Dip:
1/2 stick butter softened
1/4 cup maple syrup

DIRECTIONS:

Whip butter and syrup together until smooth. Dip bacon. Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed Part one of this three part series to kick off the Fat Tuesday posts on The Swearing Mom and that you will keep an eye out for next weeks post. Oink, bitches!
